Get MitID Erhverv if you do not have a CPR number

Without a CPR number, you get MitID Erhverv as a separate MitID. Here, we guide you through the whole process in 3 phases.

This page is relevant for:

  • people who
    • do not have a CPR number
    • need to act on behalf of users in a Danish organisation.

To get MitID Erhverv, you must scan your passport/ID card in the MitID app during the process.

If the app cannot scan your passport/ID card correctly, you unfortunately cannot get MitID Erhverv, even by attending a citizen service centre (borgerservice) at a municipality in Denmark.

A MitID without a CPR number, which citizen service centres can create, does not meet the security requirements for MitID Erhverv.

Check whether your passport/ID card can be scanned in the MitID app here:

MitID.dk: Passport/ID card requirements for MitID app

Without a CPR number, you get MitID Erhverv as a separate MitID, which:

  • is different from your private MitID.
  • you only need to use when you act on behalf of your organisation.

This means that you get 2 user IDs:

  • one for your private MitID
  • one for MitID Erhverv.

A user ID is what you enter when you log in or approve with MitID. When you log in to act on behalf of your organisation, you must enter the user ID for MitID Erhverv.

Your separate MitID can be used for several Danish organisations, if they allow it.

You can choose to have the 2 MitIDs on different devices, for example on separate phones, or on the same device. Please note that you cannot use biometrics (fingerprint or facial recognition) to approve in the app when you have both on the same device.

How to get MitID Erhverv without a CPR-number

To get MitID Erhverv, you must:

  1. get a private MitID with a P code
  2. ask your organisation’s user administrator to create you as a user in MitID Erhverv
  3. activate your MitID Erhverv.

Phase 1. Get a private MitID with a P code

A private MitID with a P code is a private MitID that you can get if you do not have CPR number. The P code is used instead of a CPR number when you activate your private MitID.

To create a private MitID without a CPR number that meets the requirements for MitID Erhverv, you must have:

  • a phone that can scan your passport/ID card
  • a passport/ID card that contains a chip that can confirm your identity
  • a passport/ID card that is valid and has not expired.

Learn more about the requirements for phones and for the chip in passports/ID cards:

MitID.dk: Technical requirements

MitID.dk: Passport/ID card requirements for MitID app

Please note that you will not be able to get MitID Erhverv if your passport or ID card cannot be scanned in the MitID app. Even though citizen service centres (in Danish: Borgerservice) in Denmark can help you create a private MitID without scanning, it does not meet the security requirements for MitID Erhverv.

When activating your private MitID, you will need an 8-digit P code. You can get the code from MitID Support by phone on 33 98 00 10.

Please note that you must be the one to call; it cannot be another person from your organisation, such as a user administrator.

The P code is valid for 60 days and can be used for 3 attempts. Once the P code has been used successfully once, it cannot be used again.

Download the MitID app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Make sure you choose the MitID app published by the Agency for Digital Government.

Open the app and start the activation. Select “Passport/ID card”.

You must accept the terms and conditions, and the privacy policy.

You must:

  • select the country that issued your passport or ID card.
  • enter the P code you received from MitID Support when you are asked to enter a CPR number or P code.

Then you will need to use your phone to:

  • scan the code on your passport or ID card
  • read the chip in your passport or ID card
  • scan your face.

A detailed guide on how to scan your passport or ID card and your face in the MitID app can be found at MitID.dk:

MitID.dk: Scan passport code, read chip and scan face

The user ID you create here is only used to confirm your identity when you activate MitID Erhverv. Choose a user ID that is easy for you to remember but hard for others to guess.

Keep your user ID securely, as you may need it again, for example if you get a new phone. Without it, you will need to start over with a new P code.

Once your user ID has been created, you must enter your phone number. You will receive a temporary code by SMS, which you must enter in the MitID app to link the number.

To activate your private MitID, you must choose which device you want to use it on:

  • the phone you used to scan your passport or ID card
  • another phone/tablet.

A detailed guide to activating a private MitID is available on MitID.dk:

Phase 2. Contact one of the administrators in your organisation

Once your have a private MitID, you must ask the MitID Erhverv user administrator in your organisation to create you as a user in MitID Erhverv.

You must contact one of the user administrators in your organisation. If you don't know who that is, you could, for example,

  • check the intranet, etc.
  • ask a colleague
  • ask the IT department.

Once your user administrator has created you as a user in MitID Erhverv, you will receive an activation email from MitID Erhverv. The email is titled "Activate your user profile (in Danish: Aktivér din brugerprofil)".

Your user administrator will give you a temporary code (activation code) in a secure manner. You will need this code when activation MitID Erhverv.

Phase 3. Activate your MitID MitID Erhverv

You are ready to activate MitID Erhverv once you have received:

  • the activation email from MitID Erhverv
  • the temporary code (activation code) from the user administrator.

Activation works in the same way as for people with a CPR number. The guide to activating MitID Erhverv can be found here:

Activate yourself as a user in MitID Erhverv

Please note that you have been given a separate MitID. This means that:

  • you have been given a MitID Erhverv, which can only be used when you are acting on behalf of your organisation.
  • you have been given a MitID Erhverv user ID in addition to the user ID for your private MitID.

Please keep the user ID for your private MitID safely. You may need it again, for example if you change phone.
